Visit the Warren

Once upon a time we adopted a lovely gray bunny from the animal shelter. We named her Nigella. She's my girlfriend. She would be quite happy to let me scratch her nose and feed her snacks all day if I had the time.

As an example of No Good Deed Going Unpunished she gave birth to four kittens after we had her for only two weeks. Here's mom and three of the kids (at about 1 month) enjoying a healthy treat.

Many of these pictures were taken when we had the Warren set up in a corner of the living room. But now that they've destroyed the carpeting (we wanted to replace it anyway, so they were just being helpful) we've moved most of them down to the basement.

Nigella's children are:

Biggles

Biggles was always the loner and is the most cautious of the four. But then one doesn't keep off the dinner menu by just rashly leaping out of one's cage. Biggles is a "Rex" bunny which means he has shorter fur, which he thinks makes him more elegant, but colder.

Lennier

Lennier hasn't had any home movies made of her. She shares a cage with her mom and most of the time they get along quite well. As a youngster she was always the most daring; climbing to the highest places and making the furthest jumps. Consequently she broke her leg and it set badly.

Chloe

Chloe is our differentlyabled bunny who suffered a lower back injury in her early weeks. This means she cannot jump but she can still scoot about and says "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

She's a bit of a blonde and many things seem to make her head itch. But she likes her humans, especially when they bring her treats.

Gordie

Gordie is also quite clever and lives up in the living room now since he and his brother spent a lot of time glaring at each other from their cages. Yes, once they hit sexual maturity, boy bunnies like to fight. A lot. But both Gordie and Biggles are happier now. And Gordie gets a lot of treats from the kitchen.

Here are more cute bunny pictures (because you can never have enough):
